Ortho-K in Albany, New Zealand
May 29, 2019
Orthokeratology (Ortho-k for short) is the use of specially designed contact lenses that are worn over-night to correct vision. In the morning the lenses are removed, and vision is corrected for 1-2 days, allowing people to be spectacle-free for that period of time.
Unlike laser surgery, the process is fully reversible and people can go back to wearing spectacles or contact lenses after 1-2 days.
The lenses are permanent, so you don’t have the ongoing cost associated with soft contact lenses.
Ortho-K is also a good option for children with rapidly increasing nearsightedness as it has been scientifically proven to reduce the rate of progression of this condition.
